Cultural Worship

Tonight's cultrual worship was India and it sure has made me lonesome for our little girl, but I know kinda what her worship services are like now.

Picnic

Neil and Leanne Treme the Americas representives here at FPO had a picnic and cooked us hamburgers and hotdogs with all the good fixins at Deep Run Park. It was a beautiful park with lots of great walk trails. BIG trees everywhere. Great fellowship and music.

Happy Man

Rocky got his computer up and going this afternoon. It would not let him log on a couple of days after it was encrypted. It did not work from Friday evening till this afternoon late. As you can see he is smiling now.

Doctrines

We had several hours of doctrines today. I must admit when I looked at the schedule and saw that we were having 1 1/2 days of doctrine I was not to excited. We had a really good teacher and I learned alot today. Very good!

A Gift

It stopped raining just in time for us to get to enjoy this beautiful sunset.

African cutural worship

Tonight we had cultural worship and it was African. Pretty cool music and storying. We had to take our shoes off at the door and sit on mats. We were encouraged to wrap head and wear long skirt. Men sat on one side and women and children under 7 years sat on the other side.

Week at a Glance

We met with our supervisor from Ecuador for lunch on Sunday and we were glad to get to spend time with Russ. He was here to tell us about a place of need in Ecuador that we did not know about. Rocky and I prayed and ask our prartners to pray with us about changing assignment. We took the new location. We will be southern Ecuador and it will still be mountains but not as high elevation (3000-4000) some jungle, hence(Tarzan and Jane) We hope to talk to the masters couple that is there now. They will be coming back to the states in Feb. so we will have them for about a month after we get there.

Sunday night we had cultural worship and it was post modern. Different but I really like the music. This week we will have African and I heard our little Savannah really like it when she was here.

Monday afternoon we took our computers to encrypt and now Rocky's computer will not let him boot up so I guess it was encrypted well since no one even Rocky can not get to any information. Rocky is frustrated.

Tuesday we had a session on cultural shock and then we had lunch with our small group to discuss what cultrual shock we might be having at FPO and I did not think that I was having any but as the afternoon wore on Father showed me several things that I was frustrated with.

We are learning so much!!! It is much but it is good. I could not even think about going to the field without all of this info.

Wednesday we learned about the persecuted church. Think of Joesph sold by his brothers and thrown into jail and then think about the fact that we cannot ask for Joesph to get out of jail and allow so many others to die of starvation. We do not see the big picture!

Father I pray that I will be obedient and not pray for an easy life just obedience.

We had cultural mail day and we on the mail team just gave everyone a really hard time before they were allowed to check their mail. We were asking for 2 IDS so they were having to go back to there quad to get a second one and some people we show favoritism towards and just let them in. One lady sang I am a little tea pot. we got chocolate and we were given .50 which will go to Lottie Moon. I saw a Journeymen with a t-shirt on that had I LOVE LOTTIE.

Rocky and I got through at 3 several afternoons this week and we rushed to the quad and took a nap.

Friday afternoon we had immunizations and Rocky and I got 3 and then we went to Richmond to the Lab and got a HIV screening for our Ecuador visa and then we eat at Red Lobster and made a walmart run before we came back to the farm.

Saturday is a day of rest. I got to do a little bit of hair today and it felt good. Also we had good hard rain all afternoon. we just enjoyed the rain out our kitchen window/door.

2Corinthians10:5

You know when you get physically tired is when you have really got to be on the alert for attacks. The place I battle the most is in my thought life, I have been repeating this scripture alot this week, 2Cor.10:5
"Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

Special Meals

Today we had food from Central and Eastern Europe. We had beet soup with rye bread.It was delicious but was all carbs and it ran out about 4:oo. We also had spoons to eat with.

Monday we had a special meal of food from the Middle East and we were served from a dish that we shared. We also had to eat with our hand. We were not to use our left hand at the table. The food was great.It was spicy.

Weekend

Saturday we went to walmart so Rocky could order new eyeglasses and we also needed to get walmart stuff. Back to ILC for a picture session. Quick lunch and then a large group of us went to Richmond to a place where there is diverse people groups and we went out on the streets and shared the gospel with all those that we came into contact with. That was a good experience and we talked with about 7 people. Glad we went.

Today, Sunday we slept a little late and it was good. We had house church from 10:00-12:00 and that is a sweet time with our brothers and sisters. Had Lunch and our famous Sunday nap! Tonight we had cultural worship. Everything was done in Spanish. That was really cool even though I could not understand most of the service I still found myself worshipping the Lord.

Went for walk for fitness log. I am rested and ready for the week.
I finished one of the 6 books that I have to read.

A week at FPO

Yea we are just a little overwhelmed. We had 3 days of Spiritual warfare teaching the first of the week with other teaching also. Wednesday ended with info on malaria, insurance, and banking. LONG DAY! Thursday was servant ship, language, and meeting with our affinity group and leader. Today we had more language, member care on transition and grief and met with small group to discuss what are our feelings at this point. You all know me so it was emotional. This afternoon we had a session about couples staying in love on the field. I am on the mail ministry team so I went to serve in mail room late this afternoon.I enjoy it. We have had supper and now I must get on with some of this reading and other papers.

Tomorrow is Saturday,YEA, Rocky and I are going to make a walmart run in the morning. At 1:00 we will head to Richmond with a large group to meet people and share our story with them. Seven more weeks.

WE GOT MAIL!

Today was pretty overwhelming with all of the sessions and information. But after supper went by mail box and andwe had mail from our beautiful daughter. We also got a letter from our special grandaughter and wonderful art work from Caleb and also a picture from Savannah. It gave Grandpop and I an exciting end to the day. Thanks Joy
